When i burp why does it smell and taste like smoke?

i was severly burned at work yesterday, 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my arm and hand. im going back to my doctor today, i know i breathed in some of the smoke in fire, but are my lungs and stuff okay? why do i keep burping and why does it smell like this?
