Something about WW1...need clarification!?

The UK sent their young men off to fight for their lifestyle and freedom. They did not want to be under the rule of a Kaiser or any time of monarchy/dictatorship again. If things far from the front now didn't offer this lifestyle, it was just the same as if they lost the war. The reason he was risking his life was to return to the life he knew and loved.
