Car trouble, gears skipping?

hey i got a 98 rodeo v6, when I start out driving its fine but if I press down the gas hard or when I slow down n press the gas u hear a put put sound until I slam on the gasuntil it stops! It feels like its clogged somewhere! Its even feels like its skipping a gear though I have automatic! Is a wire damaged or do I need spark plugs or what? Maybe not enough air getting in or clogged
