Transporting a granite countertop? Is a pickup okay?

I have a five foot by two and a half foot granite table top which has no holes cut in it. Is this okay to lie flat in a pickup flatbed? The delivery truck I know has those teepee things to tilt it up on. How important is that if you have a small top? If I get delivery it is 2-3 hundred dollars so I want to carry it myself if it is okay.
