What hull has less total resistance at low and at high speeds? a long slender monohull or a short wide one?

If there displacement hull than there not planing hulls so the speed will be diminished. Short wide will be more stable for carry and transporting people. Long slender will push threw the water with less power but will not be as stable.Unless if your talking about large boats.
